Vermilion

The green bangles jingle,
The fragrant henna
still fresh on my palms,
The turmeric smeared
thread smiles
Anklets tingle
Undescribeable happiness
The vermilion
on my forehead.

The Raven

What if I dont live for more years and just die

Would I just be another tombstone? where people would just leave roses but there wont be any roses cos my religion doesnt bury ,so I die in ashes, grey and with the wind I would flow with no tombstone

Forgotten!!! possibly remembered over a cup of coffee minus the fragrance of roses, nothing to show that anyone cared, no pink flowers, just a few vadas and a hearty meal for people who would come together to laugh and bitch about their daughter in laws and mother in laws.

what a mundane life!!!

What a life to lead !!!

But the only saving grace would probably be my Saturday purchase of pink flowers and the smile that I could gift myself the smile of bright pink flowers with a dash of green and a bit of lavender, the fragrance of freshly sprayed water, and my thoughts and hopes of one day not having to buy it, but possibly be gifted that if not on my tomb, but atleast in front of a picture, of mine, and a few people, who arent eating, arent meeting up, but are there just to remember me

Puppy Love

Moonlight played the peeping tom,
Those soft sheets of passion
the feeling of your warmth
Present but not by my side
A shy smile, closed eyes,
Thoughts engulf every breath,
the tingle felt though not touched.
Longing swallowed
Question asked and answered,
I hold on tight to the pillow.

If wishes were horses!

She ran past me,
Everyday
I see those colourful dresses,
bright red, orange and blue,
on the pavements,
a little after 8.

Buyers keep looking
to get the best
for the night,
measuring everything
without a measure.

They had a guest today
who joined them,
on their walk.
A wicked grin on one.
I saw her run.

The saree was risen
up to her knee
A sight of pleasure
for a vouyeur passing by.
The Pallu fell
like it does everyday.
But today they moved for
a different reason.

The man in Khakhi followed
trying to match the pace,
restrained,
by the bulging potbelly.
She ran past me.
His grin told it all.
She ran and ran.

The buyers looked.
It was entertainment,
as always.
The grin turned
into a laugh.

I kept looking
She ran past me
like a horse
and he followed
enjoying the chase.

independence day!

Just around the corner
I saw a young man,
Hungry, haggard.
Earning his daily bread
selling the shiny golden
badges and flags
"Jai hind" He cried
I looked at him
Patriotism fills tummies!!!

I went further
To see a jazzy showroom
decked up with lights
saffron, white and green
and there I saw the paper again
Saffron white and green
Decorating his window,
to be taken off
after a few days.
Thrown in some corner
of his godown
not bothered about
for exactly five months

I heard there was a party
My friends said " dry day,
We need to stock up"
I smiled and said enjoy
"whats the occasion?"
They proudly claimed
"60 Years of Independence "
